Egypt is 5 hours ahead of Brasília right now. When it is 12:00 in Brasília, it is 17:00 in Egypt. This gap is not fixed: it moves with daylight saving time.
How many hours apart today
To find the time in Egypt, add 5 hours to the time in Brasília. Egypt follows Africa/Cairo (UTC+2), while Brasília is on UTC-3, so people there are already living further into the day: when it is 12:00 in Brasília, it is 17:00 in Egypt.
From 19:00 in Brasília it is already the next calendar day in Egypt.
Daylight saving time: does the gap change?
Yes. Egypt changes its clocks, so the difference has two values: +5 hours on standard time and +6 hours on daylight saving time (+ means ahead of Brasília, - behind). Daylight saving time starts in April and ends in October. Today the gap is 5 hours. The next change is on Friday, April 30, 2027 at 00:00 (clocks go forward 1 hour), and from that day the difference with Brasília moves by one hour.
Brazil, for its part, has had no daylight saving time since 2019 and stays on UTC-3 all year, so every change comes from the Egypt side. See the daylight saving time guide for dates by country.

Best times to call or hold a meeting
Assuming 9:00-18:00 office hours on both sides, the shared window runs from 09:00 to 13:00 Brasília time (14:00 to 18:00 in Egypt), about 4 hours of overlap. That is a short window, so book it early and keep meetings tight.
From Brazil, when it is 09:00 in Brasília, it is 14:00 in Egypt (within office hours); at 12:00 it is 17:00 (within office hours); and at 18:00 it is 23:00 (night or very early, best avoided).
In the other direction, a call made in Egypt at 9:00 reaches Brasília at 04:00 (night or very early, best avoided); at 12:00 it is 07:00 there (early, but reasonable); and at 18:00, 13:00 (within office hours).
The same arithmetic helps with flights, whose departure and arrival times on tickets are always in the local time of each airport, and with live broadcasts announced in another time zone. Always convert the announced time before you plan. The meeting planner compares both clocks hour by hour.
